I try to listen to atleast one record on my work from home days and today I listened to a compilation of songs by Greek composer Vangelis. He left us with many great tracks featured in movies and documentaries. He even worked with Dutch austronaut André Kuipers to create the music for the film Beyond, ode to the Earth.

I bought this record two weeks ago from one of my favourite online indie records stores, Sounds. If I ever go to Delft, I will make sure to drop by.

I was only familiar with the track: To the unknown man. This is my second Vangelis record, I have played the Bladerunner soundtrack often before I got this one. And I must admit it is a nice change. Pulstar is one of the more upbeat tracks on the album while La petite fille gives you more a sad fairytale feeling, we all know how the Little Mermaid non-Disney version ends.
Sword of Orion could have fitted the vibe of the Bladerunner soundtrack. I had to straight away think about the “Tears in rain monologue”
I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.
If I had to pick a favourite track of this record, it would be Sword of Orion.
I glad that I picked this one up, it was on sale and ended up my best buy of the month March music wise.
My rating: 5/5
